Studio Acoustics Upgrade

Some major changes to the studio planned for March. Broadband absorption based on Asona’s Fabwall 100 planned for the studio walls; and bass traps using floor to ceiling 2.4m high 100mm fibreglass panels straddling each of the room corners. This should tame the remaining bass and mid-frequency anomolies in the room – flattening out the room’s frequency response. It was a toss up between fibre glass and Autex’s excellent Acoustic Blanket AAB 100-48 (a 100mm polyester panel with a density of 48kg/m3) — both products available from Potters here in Auckland. In the end I chose the fibre glass as it was slightly more rigid and easier to work with (cut). All room measurements performed with REW V5 (Room Eq Wizard) – an excellent (and free) real time audio analyser.
